MIRI: Miri City Council may close Jalan Pantai Lutong here if the water reaches a dangerous level.

The king tide is predicted to be in the range of between 5.6 to 6.1 metres for the next few days according to the Sarawak Government Almanac.

This may pose safety hazard and inaccessibility to road users if the water level rises due to heavy rains and thunderstorms.

In a press statement today, the city council advised road users intending to use Jalan Pantai Lutong to take alternative routes.

“The public are requested to give their cooperation and follow instructions by traffic wardens at the site. They must observe the road closure notices and road diversion traffic signs that will be erected before and along the said road,” it said.

Members of the public were also advised to remain vigilant on the development and to prepare for any eventuality.
