KUCHING: Due to jealousy, a 35-year old man was sentenced to three months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here on Wednesday (Feb 16).
He was convicted of hurting his girlfriend after suspecting that she was having an affair with another man.
Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali sentenced Noorhalim Mohamad after he pleaded guilty.
The court ordered the accused to serve his sentence effective Wednesday.
On the charge, the accused committed the offence by punching the 38-year-old victim in a flat in Batu Lintang at 12.05am on Feb 11 and causing her to suffer bruises.
He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code and if found guilty, can be sentenced to up to a year or fined RM2,000 or both.
