KABONG constituency is in need of a fire station, stresses Mohd Chee Kadir (GPS-Kabong).

“However, every time we voice out, we have often been rejected as Kabong does not meet the criteria,” according to him.

“So many fire incidents have occurred, and recently, 10 units of shophouses were destroyed by fire.

“However, when the fire department arrived at the scene, they did not come to put out the fire, but to watch the houses that had been destroyed by the flames (as it was too late),” he said.

Mohd Chee said this in his debate speech on Supply Bill (2023) and Motion to Refer to the Development Budget Resolution for 2023 on yesterday (Nov 24).

Hence, he emphasised on the need for a fire station for the safety of the people in Kabong. “I appeal that the set criteria or conditions be relaxed so that a fire station can finally be built in Kabong.”

Mohd Chee also commented on the fishing trawlers that disregard the regulations set by the marine fisheries department, which bans trawling in coastal areas.

“The source of income of Kabong fisherman is decreasing day by day due to the trawlers.

“Hence, I hope that the government will be able to lower artificial reef balls along the coast of Kabong to prevent trawling activities.”
