SIBU: A total of 37 families from Kampung Datu will soon relocate to the Kampung Datu Baru housing project, providing them with safer and more comfortable living conditions.

“They are moving not evicted from the village but moving in the form of migration to a more comfortable, suitable, and safe place.

“This is what the Sarawak state government aims to achieve in ensuring that the people can live in more comfortable and dignified conditions,” said the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

Dr Annuar delivers his speech.

He said this in his speech at Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Bahagian Sibu which was attended by Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor’s Hall, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) here last night (Apr 13).

A total of 104 units of affordable houses have been built in Kampung Datu Baru as part of the Kampung Datu redevelopment plans.

The Nangka Assemblyman also urged the people of Sibu, especially in the Nangka constituency, to collaborate in realising promised development projects.

“I believe, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is always with our community in Sibu to ensure that we in Sibu are not left behind in any development, especially in terms of infrastructure,” he said.

He praised Abang Johari’s visionary leadership and encouraged full support for the state government’s initiatives under his guidance.

“His vision is not only well-known in our country but it has been clearly proven that the world also recognises the success of Sarawak, especially in the green economy that we have been advocating for all this time.

“Hence tonight, I urged people in Sibu to give your full support for whatever developments planned by the Sarawak government under the leadership of Abang Johari,” he said.
