Kampung Tellian fire victims receive welfare assistance

MUKAH: The victims of a recent fire which damaged a house in Kampung Tellian, Ulu Mukah received food and cash aid to ease their burdens.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah who is also Dalat assemblywoman presented the aid to the victim’s family today (June 12).

The assistance comprised pocket money, clothes, school equipment for the children, bedding, kitchen and building materials amounting to RM10,200.

Earlier, the Mukah Division Social Welfare Office came forward to channel initial food aid to the fire victims.

Meanwhile, Tellian assemblyman Yusibnosh Balo also presented donations in the form of essential food, drinks and clothes from his Service Centre to the victims.

Yusibnosh hoped that the fire victims would remain steadfast in facing the challenges.

“I would like to thank the fire and rescue team, the Mukah Welfare Department as well as the villagers and individuals who have helped in this disaster,” he said.

The fire destroyed the wooden house belonging to Busang Belanan and his family members comprising nine persons including four children.
