KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has pledged continued financial support for the ongoing upgrading work at the 7th Mile Basketball Mini Stadium.

The next phase is set to include the construction of additional parking spaces for the convenience of participants and spectators. Additionally, repairs to the ceiling and roofing are also on the agenda.

Yap made this announcement after attending the Yap Yau Sin Cup Under 20 basketball competition recently.

On another note, he highlighted that basketball serves as more than just a game; it is an effective means of combating stress and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

“Many people do not want to play basketball because they think they are not champions. I would like to say that playing basketball does not necessarily mean that you are a champion. Just play basketball at your leisure, and you will feel the difference for yourself.”

He alos urged young Sarawakians to embrace the diversity of ethnicity, religions, and beliefs within the state.

He noted the importance of inclusivity, mutual respect, and acceptance, stating that these elements form the foundation of trust and cohesiveness.
