KUCHING: No more speculations. The mayors have been named. Businessman and a commissioner of Kuching City North (DBKU) Datuk Wee Hong Seng, 57, is the new mayor of Kuching City South (MBKS).

He replaces Datuk James Chan, who has served as MBKS mayor for 11 years and will retire at the end of this month.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman is former deputy chairman of Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), who is also Palawan SUPP branch chairman, Clarence Ting.

He takes over from Datuk Tiong Thai King. DBKU new mayor, on the other hand, is Datuk Junaidi Reduan.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg confirmed their appointment after unveiling the new state Cabinet line-up following a minor reshuffle at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

The announcement puts an end to intense speculations on who would be the new mayors.
