LIMBANG: The Limbang recreational field project is now almost 30 per cent complete.

Deputy Minister for Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail pointed out that work was delayed due to several factors, including inclement weather and manpower shortage.

However, the contractor assured that the project would be completed earlier than March 14, 2023.

“When completed, the project will provide an opportunity for the community in Limbang to engage in sports such as sport climbing, drag racing and so on.

“We are also confident that this park will not only be visited by locals but also by tourists,” he said following a visit to the site recently.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, the Sarawak government handed over the project site to the Limbang District Council in 2006 but due to financial issues, the project could not be implemented.

Abdul Rahman, who is also the Bukit Kota assemblyman, informed that he applied for an allocation from the National Landscape Department in 2018 and RM15mil was approved.
