BINTULU: The Sarawak government’s initiative in introducing the Longhouse Housing Loan Scheme (SPPRP) will help ease the burden of residents in building their new longhouse.

Selangau MP Edwin Banta said the scheme helped a lot and offered relief to those who had previously wondered about loans for longhouses.

“With loans like this, we will be able to provide relief to residents to build their longhouses.

“Thanks to the Sarawak government through the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for providing SPPRP facilities with low repayment,” he said at the ceremony to erect a new longhouse, Rumah Banying, at the Sekuau Settlement Scheme here on Monday (Dec 19).

“Through this scheme, each door will receive a loan of RM30,000 with residents only paying installments as low as RM100 over a period of 25 years,” he added.

Penghulu Andrewson Ngalai, Penghulu Bansa Kunchau and several grassroots leaders in the Sekuau area attended the ceremony.
