KUCHING: The issue of low water pressure in Kampung Kudei Lama and Kampung Kudei Baru will be resolved after the Projek Rakyat to construct a new pipeline is completed in July.

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the project was to replace the old pipeline, which has been causing low water pressure, affecting 250 houses, with over 1,300 residents in the areas.

Therefore, he said a new three-kilometre pipeline would be constructed at a cost of RM1.8 million, to benefit the residents of the two villages.

“The project works start today as all the materials are already available and we are targeting for the project to be completed by July this year.”

“We also hope that the villagers will be patient and cooperate to allow this project to run smoothly,” he said after surveying the Projek Rakyat at Kampung Kudei Baru here today.

The construction of the pipeline was part of Projek Rakyat – on the proposed upgrading of the existing infrastructure facilities and improvements for Kampung Kudei Lama, Kampung Kudei Baru, Kampung Sungai Maong, and Kampung Segedup here.

Meanwhile, the village’s Ketua Kaum, Supardi Abdullah, expressed his gratitude to the Sarawak government led by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for listening to the voice of the people and approving the project and allocation to replace the pipeline.

He said this project would solve the problem of low pressure faced by the villagers.

“Once this project is completed, we will use a pipe measuring eight inches compared to the current one which is six inches.”

“We appreciate the GPS government’s commitment for safeguarding the people, especially the residents of this village,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ketua Kaum Sangi Abu, who is responsible for the Iban/Dayak residents of Kampung Kudei Baru, also thanked the GPS government for addressing the people’s issue promptly.

“When the project is completed, we will no longer face low water pressure when carrying out our daily routine.”

“Thank you to the GPS government and Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki for approving this Projek Rakyat,” he said.
