SERIAN: A Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veteran, who is paralysed from waist down, received donations in the form of basic necessities and equipment from MAF on Friday.

According to a statement, Third Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier General Mohd Isa Jaafar visited Corporal (B) Helbirtren Ronnie’s residence at No.74, Kampung Tebedu Mawang, Tebedu to present to him the donations.

The basic necessities were given to ease the veteran’s burden during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period.

Among the basic necessities donated were disposable diapers, powdered milk, a bed, a mattress and a wheelchair provided by the Sarawak Department of Veterans Affairs (JHEV).

The Sarawakian veteran’s condition was due to a fall in the bathroom on June 30, 2015.

At that time, he was on vacation and was preparing to take part in ‘Ops Jagakawan’, Pos Limbang on July 1, 2015.

Also accompanying Isa on Saturday during the visit were JHEV MAF Sarawak director Major Pahot Joll and representatives from veteran associations around Serian.
