KUCHING: Bookworms can now rejoice as the State Library will hold Pustaka Book Fair (PBF)
2023 here from July 22 to 30.
Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting will officiate at the book fair on July 25 at the State Library.
State Library chief executive officer Japri Bujang Masli said the fair is aimed at encouraging the readin habit.
“We welcome the support of everyone to encourage the reading habit among the local community so that we can produce a generation rich in knowledge,” he said during a press conference on the PBF 2023 at Baitulmakmur Building II here today.
Adding on, he said that apart from instilling the habit of reading among the community, the programme is also organised to provide a platform for interaction between publishers and writers as well as supporting the book industry in Sarawak
For the record, there will be 16 exhibitors at the fair. Among them are Popular Bookstore Sdn Bhd, Buku Fixi Sdn Bhd, Sinar Suci, Toko Buku Pujangga Baru and UNIMAS Publisher.
To make it merrier, Pustaka will also organise various interesting activities such as Sarawak Day quiz, food and drink sales and lucky draw.
KBF2023 is organised in collaboration with the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sarawak (DBP), National Library of Malaysia (PNM), National Book Council Of Malaysia (NBCM), Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA), Perbadanan Kota Buku Bahagian Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan (BSTP), and Librarians Association of Malaysia, Sarawak Chapter (PPMKSAR).
