KUCHING: The Ministry of Unity announced that it will organise the Malaysia Unity Week beginning next year.

Its minister, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, said that there will be various programmes held throughout the week.

“Among the programmes will be hashtag “Ini Malaysia Kita” as of a way to appreciate our country that is full of various ethnicities,” he said.

He also added that various committees, namely the committee of religions, have been created to assist the ministry in preserving the peace, and harmony of the multi-religious community in the country.

“Unity in diversity is the sentence that we have always been using since day one.

“Therefore, such committees are established to assist in taking care of the tranquility alongside the inclusion in Malaysia,” he said.

He said this during the press conference after the engagement session with the Department of National Unity and Integration at the Sultan Iskandar building in Kuching yesterday.

When asked when the unity will be held, he said that the ministry is currently planning on what type of programmes they want to organise.

“However, most likely it will be held sometime around May, before the Gawai celebration, and we will celebrate it as grandly as possible.

“Then, we will bring the Unity Week to Sabah, and then the Peninsular, so it will be like a rotation,” he said.
