KUCHING: A teenager’s uncle was badly beaten up after he had days earlier attempted to rape her in Betong and threatened to slash her with a knife in Batu Kawa, here, yesterday.
The suspect had recently attempted to rape the 17-year-old girl who was then in Betong for the Gawai celebration. After the girl told her mother about the incident, they went to a police station to lodge a report yesterday.
After lodging the report, the girl’s mother drove her to school but they were stopped by the suspect in the middle of the road in front of a fuel station at Batu Kawa.
Armed with a knife, the suspect ordered the two to withdraw the police report and forced them into his house at Taman Desa Wira to talk things over.
A quarrel then ensued where the suspect grabbed the girl and slashed her back with a knife.
Passers-by who heard the commotion then came to assist the mother and her daughter.
The suspect was assaulted by the angry public before police were called to take him away.
