MIRI: A 23-year-old unemployed man has been placed under police custody yesterday under the suspicion of molesting his 11-year-old sister-in-law.

The suspect was nabbed from a house in Kampung Lembah Hijau on Wednesday at 2.30am following a police report lodged by the victim’s mother.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol when contacted by the New Sarawak Tribune yesterday said the alleged incident occurred sometime in April this year.

“The victim’s mother had lodged the report on June 18, after she was told about the alleged incident,” he added.

According to Sabri, the victim claimed to be molested while watching television alone with the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2019.
