SRI AMAN: A local man was fined for making an illegal U-turn along KM23, Jalan Undop-Lepong here on Monday (Dec 4).
Police detected the traffic offence on a dashcam footage showing a Proton Wira making an unpermitted turn at a P-turn, which went viral on Facebook.
According to the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, the video clip attracted negative comments, condemning the driver’s action that could endanger other road users.
“Following that, the Sri Aman traffic police managed to identify the driver and contacted him to come forward for investigation.
“On the same day, the driver came to the traffic police office around 1.20 pm to assist in the investigation,” the department said.
The driver owned up, saying he was in a hurry.
Police issued a summons against him under Rule 13 of the Traffic Rules 166/59.
