Man fined RM2,500 for drug abuse

KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a local man RM2,500 in default six months in prison for abusing three different types of drugs last month.

Mohd Shukri Bolhi, 29, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to a charge framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15 (1) of the same Act.

If convicted, he can be sentenced to jail for a term of up to two years or a fine up to RM5,000, and be placed under police supervision for a period up to three years.

Mason Jaro also ordered him to be placed under police supervision for two years after paying the fine or serving his time.

Mohd Shukri was found positive for Methamphetamine, Methylenedioxy-Amphetamine (MIDA) and Methylenedioxymethamphetmine when he was detained at Kuching Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) at around 12.40 pm on Nov 16.

According to the facts of the case, while detained at Kuching NCID office, his urine test was found to be positive for drugs.

The sample was then taken to the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) Pathology Department and the report confirmed that Mohd Shukri was positive for syabu drugs.
