Man held for menacing to kill cousin’s husband

PADAWAN: The police here arrested a man who went amok and allegedly threatened to kill his cousin’s husband with an axe after he was accused of littering around the cousin’s home.

Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday (Dec 14) after receiving a police report from the complainant (victim’s wife).

The arrest was made by a Criminal Investigation Division (CID) team at the suspect’s house in Lorong 2, Kampung Nyabut, Trombol around 6.30 pm.

“Also seized was an axe used by the suspect to threaten the victim.

“The suspect is currently remanded under Section 324 and Section 506 of the Penal Code,” he said.

According to Abang Zainal, the incident happened at the victim’s house in Kampung Nyabut, Trombol, Jalan Telaga Air around 9.30 pm on Tuesday (Dec 13).

An initial investigation found that the suspect, armed with an axe, had gone to the 37-year-old complainant’s house and called out her husband while threatening to kill him.

Fearing that something might happen, the complainant’s husband did not answer the suspect and just kept quiet in the house.

He stated that the suspect was not satisfied and went amok when he was accused of littering around the complainant’s house.

“The suspect’s parents also arrived at the scene to alleviate the situation.

“As the suspect swung the axe, his father attempted to take it from him, injuring his hand in the process,” he said.

There were no serious injuries, and the suspect’s father received treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
