BINTULU: Narcotics police detained a local suspected drug dealer yesterday for possessing drugs believed to be Ecstasy powder.
Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit said the 38-year-old was arrested for allegedly distributing and abusing drugs in Jalan Sibiyu housing estate, here.
“He will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing 20 plastic packets containing what appears to be Ecstasy powder.
“The drugs weighed 640.87g. If convicted, the suspect can face the death penalty or imprisoned for life and given up to 15 lashes of the rotan,” he said.
He will also be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after he tested positive for methamphetamine.
