KUCHING: An unemployed man was sentenced to a fine of RM3,000 in default to imprisonment for six months for running over and damaging the dividing fence of a house using a compact vehicle while on a rampage in Kampung Semeba on November 27.

The accused, Vestson Rindyvon Rikie, 27, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code which was read by an interpreter before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali, at the Magistrate Court today.

According to the charges, he deliberately caused damage to the fence of a house owned by a 30-year-old female victim, causing a loss of RM2,000 in the incident at Kampung Semeba, at around 9am on Nov 27.

Based on the facts of the case, the complainant, who is the accused’s sister, lodged a police report that her younger brother had gone berserk in her house and tried to strangle the complainant’s nine-month-old baby.

During the incident, the accused was aggressively holding a sharp weapon, which was a kerambit blade.

The accused then got into a Perodua Kancil compact vehicle, drove the vehicle and hit the wall of the house, causing damage to the dividing fence.

On that same day, police arrested the accused at the house at around 5.55pm and was taken to the police station for investigation and further action.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
