KUCHING: All organisations, including non-governmental organisations, (NGOs) in the Kampung Haji Baki area have been urged to continue cooperating with each other well regardless of political and social beliefs.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said this is important because they are also the entities responsible for village development.

He said they also play an important role in maintaining safety and welfare and even become a link between the villagers and the government.

“Thus, I want every organisation in Kampung Haji Baki to be more proactive and play an effective and efficient role in the village.

“Such efforts will help smoothen development efforts in addition to ensuring any welfare assistance is channeled quickly,” he said.

Lo who is chairman of the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) said this while officiating the closing of the NGO Shared Responsibility Welfare Programme at Darul Ehsan Mosque, Kampung Haji Baki, yesterday (July 24).

The programme was jointly organised by the Kampung Haji Baki Welfare and Cultural Association and the Masjid Darul Ehsan Committee.
“Hopefully a programme like this can create a prosperous community,” he said.
