SARATOK: Single mothers need to know the existence of a Sarawak Single Mothers Association (PITSA) so that they would not miss out on any programme or activity targeted for their welfare.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said the government was always focused on empowering single mothers so that they could improve their socioeconomic wellbeing.

“I believe there are those who do not know the existence of such a non-governmental organisation (NGO). With that being said, through this tour, we hope it can introduce PITSA and its role to single mothers.”

He was speaking during the PITSA Road Tour in Saratok District, which comprises DUN Kabong, Kalaka, Krian, on Yesterday (Aug 15).

“For me, it’s a golden opportunity for single mothers, especially in getting help to improve their skills and knowledge in entrepreneurship, including digital literacy.

“Another is also to ensure that single mothers are aware of their rights.”

The event that started at 9.30am was filled with empowerment programmes for women, especially those from the rural areas.
