KUALA LUMPUR: The marketability of graduates of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) Institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) (TVET@KPLB) has exceeded the national standard.

Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the average graduate employability rate for all TVET@KPLB educational institutions has now reached 87.67 per cent while the national Key Performance Indicator (KPI) national employability rate set was 86.7 per cent which needed to be achieved in 2025.

“The marketability exceeding the national standard indirectly reflects that the TVET education provided by TVET institutions in KPLB is able to provide employability and a bright career path for the graduates,” he said.

He said this during the question and answer session at the Dewan Negara today in reply to a question from Senator Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad who wanted to know the effectiveness of TVET education at KPLB from the aspect of graduates’ marketability and contribution to national development and creating a high-income society.

Mahdzir said that high-level TVET students are equipped with internationally recognised professional licenses that enable them to get jobs at the global level.

In addition, he said the TVET institutions are also actively applying Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) applications such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and cyber security in the programmes offered.

He stated that 280 TVET@KPLB educational institutions offer 515 TVET programmes or courses in 15 skill clusters. – BERNAMA
