KUCHING: MASwings has launched its new twice-weekly direct flight from Miri to Long Banga under its Public Services Obligation (PSO) effective 26 March 2023.

The new direct flight from MASwings aims to provide local communities with convenient transportation for supporting small businesses and leisure travel, while also helping to boost the local tourism industry by opening new avenues of economic development in rural areas, according to a press statement by the airline.

“MASwings remains committed to support the state governments’ aspirations for Sabah and Sarawak’s continuous economic growth and development, as the only provider connecting rural areas in Borneo,” said the airline in a press statement yesterday (April 1). “The airline will continue to prioritise ongoing efforts to improve flight connectivity, especially within the villages of Sabah and Sarawak that are mostly unreachable by main roads.”

The flight from Miri to Long Banga will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays via the DHC6-400 Twin Otter. Passengers also have the option of flying to Long Banga from Miri via Marudi, which operates one flight every Tuesday.
