KUCHING: The Cakna Rasuah: SPRM Bersama Media Sarawak Programme has been launched to foster a strategic partnership between the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and local media outlets.

Kuching Division Journalist Association (KDJA) chairman Ronnie Teo said that both the MACC and the media can leverage their respective strengths and expertise to form a more powerful force against corrupt practices.

“By working together, we demonstrate a commitment to open communication and information sharing, fostering trust and public engagement in the fight against corruption,” Teo said in his speech during the launching of the programme at Pullamn hotel today (Feb 6).

He also said the media’s ability to simplify complex anti-bribery investigations into engaging stories that capture the public’s attention, thereby enhancing awareness and prompting action.

Teo elaborated on the symbiotic relationship between the media and anti-corruption agencies, noting how the media can significantly extend the reach of anti-corruption efforts, while agencies can furnish the media with accurate information and context, facilitating responsible and impactful journalism.
