KUCHING: Medical tourism in Sarawak is equally important as other economic factors to boost the state’s economic growth.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated that despite the state having various tourism spots to contribute to its economic growth, service sectors are still important.

“In Sarawak, we not only have flora and fauna but we also have medical tourism. Here, we have a lot of foreign patients coming over and referring to our private hospitals,” he said.

He said this during his interview session with Money Matters broadcasted on TV3 today.

Looking at the situation, he pointed out that there would be a boost of medical tourism in the state.

“With Nusantara just next to us and a few new private hospitals coming up, you can see the migration of Indonesians to this path.

“With that, there is a need to enhance the connectivity between the two areas as I believe that there is a future in this sector,” he said.
