KUCHING: Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu welcomes the suggestions made by Deputy Minister of Transport (Road and Aviation) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil to address food security issues.

In a Facebook post, Mohamad said that the issue was discussed during a courtesy call from Dr Jerip and his delegation at the Wisma Tani Office, Putrajaya yesterday (Jan 11).

Mohamad said it is the ministry’s goal to enhance the nation’s self-sufficiency level (SSL) to reduce dependence on imports by expanding the Large-Scale Smart Farming (SBB) programme, which also involves Sabah and Sarawak.

“I have directed further discussions to take place at the ministry level to ensure the smooth progress of this matter,” he said.
