KUCHING: The ‘Iftar bersama Komuniti Rentan’ programme has brought cheer to 60 less fortunate people in conjunction with the Ramadhan month.

Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah pointed out that the programme is one of their commitments to the social inclusivity agenda to ensure that the vulnerable communities are able to enjoy a ‘dignified existence’.

“With that, we have invited the homeless people, single mothers and their children, the low-income group (B40), and people with disabilities (PwDs) to be here with us today,” she said.

She said this when officiating the programme at the Community Social Support Centre (CSSC) Kuching here yesterday (April 14).

Touching on the CSSC, she said that the establishment of this centre with multiple components such as a soup kitchen, food banks, and various social services had brought positive responses from the people.

She added that for those in need, they may come to the centre to get a free meal, dry food, and rice as the food bank is filled with it all, thanks to the donations from the community.

“It really is amazing to see that this centre is supported by so many good-hearted people in our community.

“That is why, through the CSSC here, the ministry and related strategic partners will continue to provide social support and intervention referrals to vulnerable communities to address the social issues they face,” she said.
