KUCHING: Tamira Lallemand was crowned Miss Cultural Harvest Festival 2019 at the grand finale of the 21st edition of the “Miss Ethnic Beauty Pageant Cultural Harvest Festival 2019” last Friday night.

The event took place at Sarawak Cultural Village in conjunction with Sarawak Harvest and Folklore Festival (SHFF) 2019.

The event saw the 22-year-old of mixed Bidayuh and English parentage bagging a cash prize worth RM3,000, a crown, a sash, a trophy, a bouquet of flower, a scholarship for a Diploma in Tourism programme sponsored by Nusantara Institute of Information Technology (NIIT College), a year’s supply of Sunsilk products as well as complimentary stays at Riverside Majestic Hotel and Damai Beach Resort.

In second place was Dayang Nursyafiqah-Qawiemah who took home a cash prize worth RM2,000 and in third place was Lidya Yusreena Abdul Ellias with a cash prize worth RM1,000.

Each winner also received a sash, a trophy, a bouquet of flower, a scholarship for a Diploma in Tourism programme sponsored by NIIT College, Sunsilk products and complimentary stays at Riverside Majestic Hotel and Damai Beach Resort.

The other nine contestants also each received consolation prizes of RM300 cash, an intensive English Course sponsored by NIIT College, Sunsilk products and a trophy.

The prizes were handed over by Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan’s wife, Datin Melinda Claudia Bucking Lawan.

The participants were judged on their appearance, intelligence, personality and costume. The judges were International Women’s Association in Kuala Lumpur advisor Datin Lydia Paya, RTM Sarawak Radio producer Datin Pearl Masna Ulun as well as theatre activist, scriptwriter and coach Zakaria Hassan.

The same night also witnessed other subsidiary titles being featured whereby the second runner up of Miss Cultural Harvest Festival Lidya was crowned Miss Talent and secured RM1,000 cash prize, followed by Olivia Christie Winnie at second place with RM700 cash and Charmaine Samanta Philip at third place with RM500. Each winner received a sash, a bouquet of flower and complimentary stays at Grand Margherita Hotel.

The first runner up of Miss Cultural Harvest Festival Dayang Nursyafiqah-Qawiemah also won both titles for Miss Beautiful Eyesight and Miss Favourite Karuna sponsored by Eyesight Optic Sdn Bhd and Karuna Enterprise Sdn Bhd respectively. She brought home cash prizes amounting to RM1400, a trophy, two sashes and two bouquets of flower.

Meanwhile, Miss Congeniality was secured by Nurdiyana Baharin who walked home with RM700 cash, a trophy, a sash and a bouquet of flower.

Amongst those present were Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) deputy general manager Edwin Abit and wife Elizabeth Noria George, SHFF organising chairman and Sarawak Cultural Village general manager Jane Lian Labang and SHFF director and Sarawak Cultural Village director of sales, marketing and events, Zaini Zainuddin.
