LAWAS: An elderly man reported missing after he was swept away by strong currents during flash floods last night (Nov 8) has been found by rescuers this morning.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said workers from a private company spotted the body of 63-year-old Silas Sudai at a rocky riverbank around 7 am.

The body was found between Kuala Sungai Sepakoi and Sungai Long Tengoa, some 3km away from where he was swept away.

Rescuers were promptly deployed to the scene to retrieve the body and hand it over to the police to be transported to the hospital.

The search operation concluded at 10.43 am.

Last night, Silas is believed to be checking the water levels in the area after the road connecting Lawas to Long Sukang was flooded.

The villagers conducted a search immediately for the victim but failed to find him. Rescue agencies were then alerted for assistance.
