Rescuers retrieve the victim’s body from Sungai Ipoh.

BINTANGOR: A local man reported missing after failing to return home from hunting in a forest near Rh Saban since New Year’s eve was tragically found dead in Sungai Ipoh on Tuesday.

The lifeless body of 49-year-old Luju Jugie was found floating in the river at around 3 pm.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the rescuers retrieved the body about 2km from the longhouse.

Subsequently, the victim’s remains were handed over to the police for transportation to the hospital for further procedures.

Earlier on Dec 31, Luju had left his longhouse at around 9 am for a hunting expedition in a forest and had not returned home since.

Fearing for his safety, it prompted Luju’s wife to file a missing person report at Pakan police station on Jan 2.

A search operation was launched by firemen from Bintangor station along with the police and Volunteers Corps Department (Rela).
