KUCHING: The Sarawak Experts app (Sara-X) has seen an increased in the number of users with 855 users and 262 providers.
The Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial general manager, Mohamad Shahren Mohamad Yusri said that out of the 262 service providers, more than 10 were from Centexs.
“Even though the priority is Centexs students, we are still open to the public,” he said at a press conference at Centexs today (Mar 25).
He urged more people in Sarawak to download the app from Play Store and AppStore.
He said at the moment there were 15 technical services provided such as electrical services, air conditioning maintenance and beauty/ wellness, and so on.
“We can add it more technical and professional services if they are providers who come to meet with us to register.
“But most importantly, if they are service providers, we will provide free training for them to receive certification which is the Recognition Prior Experience (RPE), recognised by the industry. This is free,” he said.
Mohamad Shahren said that currently the app service can be used in Kuching and Samarahan adding that it would be expanded to other areas in due time.
He said service providers could be graduates of Centexs in technical fields or those from other vocational schools.
He added that people who did not have academic certificate and had extensive experience could also be service providers on the condition that they have undergone the Centexs’ RPE training.
“Those who want to become a service provider will be screened through the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for a background check,” he said.
