MIRI: A five-door workers’ quarters in Batang Tinjar, Baram was razed on Wednesday morning, leaving 17 people, including two children, homeless.
According to operations commander PBK II Abdul Rahman, five Marudi firemen were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.20am.
No injuries or casualties were reported as the occupants managed to escape.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known and investigations are under way.
