Motorcycle crash killed pillion rider

The scene of the accident that claims the life of a pillion rider along Jalan Pesisir Pantai Bintulu-Miri.

BINTULU: A pillion rider died, and the motorcycle’s rider sustained light injuries after their motorcycle crashed into an electricity pole at the Samalaju junction, Jalan Pesisir Pantai Bintulu-Miri today (July 23).

The accident occurred around 3 am while the duo were heading from Similajau to Samalaju.

Bintulu police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit said it seems they lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the collision with the electric pole by the roadside.

The pillion rider, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Unfortunately, his identity remains unknown as no identification document was found on him.

Meanwhile, the rider suffered minor injuries in the crash.
