Motorist killed after car crashes into tree

SIBU: A local man died on the spot after his car crashed into a tree at Mile 6, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on Wednesday (May 25).

Sibu OCPD ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, in a statement, said the accident happened around 4.20 pm when the victim was driving his car alone towards Sibu Airport from the town centre.

“Investigation found that the victim’s car skidded and crashed into a tree before plunging into a ditch.

“As a result, the 35-year-old victim. who suffered severe head injuries, was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said.

The body was then taken to the hospital for post mortem.

Zulkipli said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
