BALINGIAN: Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib has donated a boat for the use of the Balingian Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS).

The handover of the boat was deemed very timely to facilitate PBS Balingian in carrying out rescue work.

Hanifah said such a boat was much needed in view of difficulties faced in carrying out rescue work during flood tragedies.

“This need (the rescue boat) is actually very crucial. Before an emergency occurs we should already have rescue equipment like this,” said Hanifah.

The boat along with a 15 horsepower engine and several other necessities were handed over by Hanifah to PBS Balingian chairman Jamil Paee in a brief ceremony on Monday (Aug 16).

Meanwhile, Jamil thanked Hanifah for her concern in donating the much needed boat to the fire brigade.

“On behalf of PBS Balingian, I would like to thank the Mukah MP. The contribution is a boon for fire Brigade (Fire and Rescue Department) in facilitating rescue tasks in the water,” he said.
