LUNDU: A total of 106 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants, amounting to RM1.3mil, were distributed to beneficiaries in the Opar constituency area.

Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said the distribution of the MRP grants reflects the Sarawak government’s commitment to addressing the needs and requests of its people.

“These MRP grants can be utilised for various purposes, including enhancing the social development of villages, supporting associations and clubs, as well as contributing to the improvement of places of worship.”

He said this when handing over the MRP grant cheques to the recipients at the Lundu Community Hall here, recently.

Additionally, Billy said a substantial budget of RM150mil has been approved for the infrastructure development projects under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), scheduled for implementation next year.

“GKCDA’s allocation will primarily focus on developing facilities and basic infrastructure.

“Among the main projects slated to commence in 2024 are the construction of a new market in the Opar constituency area or Opar New Township, and the upgrading of Jalan Kendaie and Jalan Sedaing-Pasir Hilir,” he said.
