LUNDU: Federal Women, Family and Community Development (KWPKM) Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has set a target of 2,000 MyKasih Kapital beneficiaries under the Wanita Bangkit@KWPKM entrepreneurship programme as part of her 100-day key performance indicators (KPIs).

She said thus far 800 beneficiaries had joined the programme in Sarawak and expressed optimism that more will do so in the forthcoming programme, which will be hosted in Kuching.

According to her a total of 15,620 women have benefited from MyKasih Kapital’s assistance and run their businesses since it was launched.

However she said it was still too early for her ministry to collect relevant data regarding the progress of participants.

Nancy who is Santubong Member of Parliament (MP) assured that follow ups would be made to see if her ministry could offer additional assistance.

“Like today, the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) also offers them services in addition to the cash aid we give them,” she said at the entrepreneurship programme at SALCRA Bajo Training Centre, here on today (Feb 11).

The programme, in which 250 local women participated, aims to strengthen the economy of the target group, particularly women, by maximising individual potential based on their skills so that they do not remain wholly dependent on government aid.

As such, Nancy encouraged the participants to support other women, possibly by offering them job opportunities or by exchanging knowledge.

During her work tour in the state last month, a total of 600 participants attended the entrepreneurship programme which included participants from Tanjung Manis, Sibu, Bekenu, Bandar Miri and Pantai Damai.

Also present was Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan.
