KUCHING: The Nanyang Wushu Federation of Sarawak will be organising the “Nanyang Wushu Golden Lion Dance Festival” on the February 4 at Crown Tower here at 7.00 pm. The Festival is organised in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Festive Season and to usher in the year of the Dog. A “Prosperity Lion” has been specially ordered from China for this grand prestigious occasion.
The highlight of this Festival will be “the Symbolic ‘Lion’s Eye- Dotting’ Ceremony” by Minister for Local Government and Housing, Sarawak, Datuk Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian After the Symbolic ‘Lion’s Eye- Dotting’ Ceremony”, members of the troupe will perform a breathtaking and exciting lion dance. Members of the public are cordially invited to witness this special occasion.
The Nanyang Wushu Lion Dance troupe has participated in several State, National and International competition and has won the following titles State winner and National runner-up of Malaysia Airlines Golden Lion Dance Festival 1987 and 1988, the Golden Lion Award of the International Wushu and Dragon Lion Festival for the year 2002, 2004 and 2008.
Members of the public can look forward to several special programmes which have been lined-up by the Federation with other business organisations, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
The Nanyang Wushu “Chinese New Year Extravaganza Show will be held on February 10 at the Ground Floor of Crown Tower at 7pm. Meanwhile, the Instructor- In-Chief of the Federation, Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Song Swee Hee said that the Nanyang Wushu Lion Dance Troupes will be visiting premises of patrons and supporters during the Chinese New Year Festive seasons.
