Students and teachers from SMK Lutong visit Piasau Nature Reserve.

MIRI:  Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) hosted a group of 58 students and teachers from SMK Lutong at Piasau Nature Reserve.

According to the custodian of National Parks and Wildlife in Sarawak, the engagement was part of Piasau Nature Reserve’s communication, education and public awareness initiative.

“In line with our objective of nurturing environmental awareness among children, Piasau Nature Reserve offered the magical experience of coming face-to-face with nature to these students and teachers.

“The nature reserve’s Interpretation Centre satisfied their inquisitive minds. When they passed by House No 58, their faces lit up with glee as they witnessed Jimmy the Hornbill with its family perched and happily welcomed them to its home,” it said today.

On a separate occasion, the corporation announced that the View Point at Similajau National Park in Bintulu is currently closed until July 15 due to damage caused by bad weather.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience. Members of the public can call the park’s office at 019-8610998 for more information,” it said.
