MUKAH: The new Mukah Hospital Visitors Board aims to assist the hospital in purchasing medical equipment.

Its new chairman, Jay Keram, said the board previously had held a discussion with the hospital director.

He added that it was agreed that the board would try to obtain funds for the purchase of medical equipment such as dopplers.

In layman’s terms, a doppler is a device used for ultrasound scanning.

“We will apply for a permit to collect donations from the private sector, corporate bodies and individuals for this purpose,” he said on Wednesday (Sept 22).

Jay was asked about the board’s plans after it was formed last year, following a change in line-up in which the former board was under the former Pakatan Harapan administration.

Jay, who is also Dalat and Mukah District Council deputy walikota and councillor, revealed that the current board’s term was two years – June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2022.

The first board meeting was held on Aug 12, 2021, focusing on appointment/selection of board members, while the appointment was backdated to June 1, 2020.
