New cases drop to 478

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 478 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Nov 1) — a significant drop from the 616 cases recorded the previous day.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the cumulative total number of cases now stood at 241,524.

Out of the total cases, 146 are in Categories 1 and 2, whereas 14 are in categories 3, 4, and 5.

Miri recorded 131 cases, followed by Kuching (129), Sibu (33), Bintulu (27), Lawas (25), Serian and Sri Aman (15 each), Limbang (13).

“Ten cases each were reported in Kapit and Pusa, Dalat (nine), Sarikei (eight), Kanowit (seven), Bau and Subis (five each), Mukah and Saratok (four each), Samarahan, Betong and Kabong (three each).

“Two cases were each registered in Lundu, Marudi, Tebedu, Selangau, Telang Usan and Sebauh, while one case each in Simunjan, Maradong, Belaga, Song, Pakan, Beluru and Julau,” it said in its daily statement today (Nov 1).

SDMC announced that 20 fatalities, including five brought-in dead cases, were recorded between Oct 1 and Oct 30.

“The victims were aged between 21 and 89 years old, and were from the districts of Betong, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu and Miri. The majority of them had comorbidities,” it added.

The committee also announced the end of the Terimah Cluster in Limbang after no new cases were recorded in the past 28 days.

“As of Monday (Nov 1), there are 27 active clusters in the state.

“In line with this, the committee also declared the end of the enhanced movement control order at two localities in the state, namely Rumah Jengayang, Jalan Sg Rusa in Sarikei and Rumah Uchi, Lubok Nyumboh Entabai in Julau on Nov 1,” said SDMC.
