KUCHING: i-CATS University College hopes to tackle the deficiency in research and publication of research papers by setting up eight new centres, said Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) Board of Governors chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain.

The eight centres are i-Centre Advisory Resources and Education (i-CARE), i-CATS Research Management Centre (i-RMC), Mathematics centre for Advisory Resources and Education (m-CARE), the English Centre for Advisory Resources and Education (e-CARE), the i-CATS Centre for Graduate Studies (i-CGS), the i-CATS Centre (Research).

“I’m glad that the institution is now putting more emphasis on research. That is crucial because there is now a deficiency in the university’s lack of research activity and the publication of research papers.

“As a result, we expect that both lecturers and students will be able to assist us in our efforts to boost the output of conducting research and publishing research papers.

Abdul Aziz said the availability of these centres will make the courses more relevant to their future career goals and requirements.
