SIBU: A new mosque incorporating architectural element of non-Muslim community will be proposed said Nangka assemblyman, Dr Annuar Rapaee.

According to the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, he is in the midst of identifying the site for that proposed mosque.

“I have been directed by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to have a new mosque incorporating Chinese architectural designs.

“I am trying to find where to build the new mosque and will try my best to identify the location over the next few weeks.

“After that, I will propose to our Premier (on the site of proposed new mosque),” he said when speaking to reporters, after closing the Sibu Division Tilawah Al-Quran at Darul Amilin Mosque in Permai housing estate here last Yesterday night (August 19).

Previously, Abang Johari when officiating the opening of the Al Qadim Mosque here last month, had suggested combining architectural designs of the non-Muslim community for mosques built in newly-developed areas in Sibu.
