KUCHING: For two days this November, Save Our St rays Kuching (SOS Kuching) will be organising a large scale pet adoption hosting for over 50 dogs and cats that are in dire need of good, loving homes. The event is held in partnership with HAUS Kuching, Animal Central Veterinary Clinic, Pong Pong Pet Saloon and participating vendors – Cloud 99, Pets Pounce, Pawwrina, Sheena and Serene, SisBerkat, Nine Lives, Lily’s Homemade, Grace’s Food catering and Ammo Supply Co.

To be held from Nov 18-19 at Haus Kuching, the event is part 2 of a previous SOS Kuching event held earlier this year on Sept 9 at Trinity Hub. During the rabies outbreak, SOS Kuching managed to rescue over 100 dogs of all sizes and ages which were then put under observation and cared for by SOS Kuching volunteers.

All of them have now been vaccinated and are declared rabiesfree as well as healthy. The most important stage of ensuring their well-being now is to find them homes and families who will love and care for them. “Being able to rescue these dogs was a very important step. SOS Kuching fully believes in giving respect to all animal lives, whether strays or family pets”, says SOS Kuching representative Kitty Chin. “But rescue is only part of our mission. We make it a point to find good loving homes for the animals after we have ensured that they are healthy and disease- free.

“This is where we need support from the community. This is why we want to encourage the public to be responsible pet owners. “It has been proven that pets add meaning and health to our lives. In addition, they are great in taking care of our homes,”she said.

Meanwhile, Rusydie, a representative from HAUS said, “It is in line with HAUS’ principles to partner with local groups looking to aid the underprivileged animals. “We hope to effectively play our part in helping our furry friends find forever homes by bridging SOS initiative and HAUS’s resources.

“As a combined unit, we hope to educate the public on how vaccinated and neutered pets can be a delightful responsibility, and a worthy addition to the family,” said Rusydie. During event there will also be a neutering and grooming discount voucher giveaway, charity mini market for arts and crafts, food and beverage, pet merchandise and much more.
