KUCHING: New resettlements in Bintulu and Sibu will be developed using the Darulhana Resettlement Project as their model and concept.
The villages involved are Kampung Nangka (Sibu) and Kampung Dagang (Bintulu) where the sites of both resettlements have been identified.
“Further details on this will be disclosed in future as more studies need to be done for both sites,” said Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg in an interview after gracing the “Qurban Perdana” (slaughtering of animals in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha) ceremony held at Masjid Darulhana yesterday.
He said the Darulhana concept would be used to develop the two sites so that the people would not be burdened by debts.
“They will be compensated according to the prices of their land in Kampung Seberang Hilir,” said Johari.
Meanwhile, when asked about the appointment of a Dayak Board Member as part of Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros), Johari disclosed that Mohd Medan Abdullah was a Kelabit.
“Medan is Kelabit but a Muslim Kelabit,” he said.
