One illegal immigrant arrested, three escaped

The arrested illegal immigrant and seized motorcycles.

SERIAN: An illegal immigrant has been arrested by the 13th Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) during ‘Ops Serkap’ in Kampung Tong Nibong, Balai Ringin here early yesterday.

However, three out of the four illegal immigrants escaped from the army.

According to a spokesman for the First Malaysian Infantry Division, during the operation around 12.45am, the army detected four person in a suspicious condition – riding two motorcycles in a small alley.

Realising the armies wanted to detain them, the four illegal immigrants trying to escape by leaving the motorcycles on the scene.

The investigation found that the arrested illegal immigrant was 32 years old and from Sungai Beruang, West Kalimantan. The suspect also had no identification document and any valid permission to enter the country, and worked as a labourer in Ladang Sawit Tetangga Akrab.

Also seized was a scrambler without registration number and a Honda motorcycle using the Indonesian registration number.

The illegal immigrant and seized items were brought to the Serian Police Station for further action.
