MIRI:  Phase three of the proposed improvement of a plank walk project at Kampung Wireless here will commence soon and is expected to be ready in April this year, says Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Ting disclosed that the RM266,100 project approved by the state government would be implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

“The contractor is given three months to improve the 350-metre plank walk,” he said during his visit to Kampung Wireless on Monday morning.

While there, he was  briefed on the project by the  contractor.

Accompanying Ting were councillors and an engineer from Miri City Council (MCC) and the village development and security committee (JKKK).

“I hope that this project will benefit the villagers,” said the assemblyman.

The first and second phases of the project were completed last year.

Kampung Wireless is one of the oldest villages in Miri. It was established in 1949 and named after a telecommunication tower built in the centre of the village by the British government in the 1950’s.
