RM50,000 govt grant for St. Herbert Church

KAPIT: Deputy Chief Minister,  Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas  has presented a RM50,000 government grant to St. Herbert Church, a Catholic church in Song. The allocation was from the Unit For Other Religions fund under his ministry.

The handing over of the grant was held to coincide with the Leaders Meet The People Session held at Rumah Robert Ngumbang at Nanga Sebatu, Batang Rajang in Kapit District on Sunday afternoon.

On hand to receive the grant on behalf of St. Herbert Church was the Parish Council chairman, Leo Sarawak and his committee members.

Uggah also announced a RM200,000  government grant  for the 39-door longhouse of Rumah Lorrie @ Gembar Anak Lebuk at Nanga Ibau Tengah, Batang Rajang; the longhouse was razed by fire on 21 April this year.

He also presented a  RM50,000  grant to the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Robert (the host longhouse) for the construction of a fence and gate   and another RM10,000  for the Women Bureau of the JKKK.

He also allocated a grant of RM20,000 for the longhouse folks of Rumah Robert to further improve the chapel for the Catholic faithfuls there.

To thank all the Village Chieftains (Tuai Rumah) who were present at the function, Uggah also pledged to allocate RM10,000  to each of them respectively. More than 20 Village Chieftains from the nearby areas including  Melipis, Ibau, Entangai, Sebatu, Belawai, Ensilai,Goh and Menuan areas attended the function.
