KUCHING: Hope Place, a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, has reached out to help Siti Nurlela Abdullah, an unemployed single mother residing in Samarahan, with regular basic food aid and milk powder.

Siti, a former factory worker, found herself in a challenging situation earlier this year when she had to care for her 57-year-old disabled mother, Hasniah, causing her to cease employment.

Hasniah, unable to walk and confined to sitting on the floor, faces various health issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol.

Previously cared for by Siti’s older brother, Hasniah was left without support following her brother’s sudden death from a heart attack in January.

Siti herself has faced adversity, having suffered partial blindness from an accident at the end of last year.

According to her, the old table fan blade suddenly loosened and slashed part of her face, causing impairment to her right eye.

Despite these challenges, she now shoulders the responsibility of caring for her two young boys, aged 4 and 5.

With no income, Siti relies on minimal savings and assistance from her other brother for help.

Thankfully, Anjung Singgah has given Siti a one-off financial assistance. She was also surprised and grateful to a public donor who generously paid for her rented room.
